Hint: A stem is an important structural axis of a vascular plant. It carries functions like- supports leaves, flowers, fruits, transports water and dissolved substances between the roots and shoots in xylem and phloem. They also store nutrients and produce new living tissue. Another important part of the plant is the root.

Complete answer:
As we discussed the stems already, let's dig deeper in detail.
Stems are generally divided into nodes and internodes. The nodes hold one or more leaves as well as buds which grow into branches later. Some adventitious roots may also be produced from nodes.
Internodes on the other hand are the distance or the part between two nodes. It possesses the ability to stretch, elongate either from its base or from its top depending on the species. If internodal regions grow vertically due to meristem activity or horizontally due to lateral meristem, that is cambium.
The internodes carry water, hormones, and food from node to node. They act as blood vessels to the organs. The plant hormone gibberellic acid helps in the growth and elongation of internodes.
So, the plant having jointed stems and hollow internodes are grass species. These species are most found in every ground. They can start growing in cold, humid as well as hot regions. Typically, they are used as animal feed as they are very nutritious. Most of the grass species and sedge species have jointed stems with hollow internodes and these are known as culms.
A culm is the top or aerial stem of a grass or sedge plant. Culm means the stalk part of a plant and the word is derived from Latin. The woody ringed stems in bamboo typically hollow between the nodes and grow in branching clusters from a thick rhizome. Bamboo culms attain a certain height ranging from \[4 - 6\] inches in the smallest species.
Grass culms are herbaceous or woody and they attain height of \[2\] centimeters. In some grasses like Aciachne pulvinate it can grow upto \[40\] meters height. Uses of culms are also done for economical purposes like they are used for farm equipment, punting poles, for scaffolding, in making utensils and handicrafts, weaving.
Grass seedlings have only one seed-leaf. Grass leaves are usually long and narrow with parallel veins. Leaves have two parts a lower portion called sheath and upper portion called blade. The lower portion sheath covers or wraps around the culm. Culms also bear flowers in plants like- grasses, sedges, rushes etc.

Note:
As we know about stems already let know about its types. There are four types of herbaceous stems- climbers, bulbs, tubers, and runners. Stem of a flower is called a peduncle. A stem consists of eight distinct parts containing six elements like- nodes, internodes, terminal, or apical bud, lateral or axillary bud, petiole, and pedicel. Pedicel is known as the individual stem to the individual flower.
