Hint:The flowers can be defined on the basis of presence and absence of the sepals and petals.Flowers contain the plant’s reproductive structures.
Complete Answer:
A typical flower has four main parts, or otherwise called whorls. They are as the calyx, corolla, androecium, and gynoecium. The outermost whorl of the flower has green, leafy structures known as sepals.
Now that we have learnt about the structure of the flower, we can discuss the listed arrangement of flowers-
1)Cyclic:-if sepals and petals of a flower are arranged in a whorl the flower is cyclic. It mainly consists of a single whorl of sepals termed a calyx, a single whorl of petals termed as corolla; one or more whorl of stamens - together termed the androecium, and a single whorl of carpels termed the gynoecium. This is a cyclic arrangement.
2)Acyclic flower:- It is a flower, all of whose parts are arranged in a spiral. Acyclic flowers are characteristic of primitive angiosperms (many genera of the Magnoliaceae family, the Calycanthaceae family, and certain genera of the Ranunculaceae family, such as pheasant’s-eyes, hellebores, and globe flowers).
3)Amphicyclic flower- double ring of small cells surrounding the guard cells; if the mother cell neighbouring the guard cells differentiates directly into a subsidiary cell, the situation is monocyclic, if it divides tangentially, the general situation is amphicyclic, or more specifically, dicyclic for just one division.
As we see above, if the sepals and petals of a flower are arranged in a whorl, the flower is cyclic.
Hence, the correct answer is option A (Cyclic flower).
Note:The sepals and petals together make up the perianth, or floral envelope.Sepals are protective covering of flower during bud condition. Petals are seen when flowers are mature and attract insects to pollinate.
