Opposing reactions are distinct from reversible processes in thermodynamics. Generally, weak acids and weak bases undergo reversible reactions.

We need to know that the few chemical reactions where the products of chemical change react to give the original reactions are called as opposing reactions (or) reversible reactions. In these reactions, the forward rate as well as the backward rate influences the net rate of the reaction and some strong disturbances in the measurement of reaction are also caused.
We can write a simple reversible reaction (or) opposing reaction where both reactions belong to first order as,
$A\underset{{K'}}{\overset{K}{\longleftrightarrow}}B$
Two arrows one pointing in each direction represents opposing reactions. We can also use two half arrowheads to represent opposing reactions. We have to know that the arrow that goes in the right direction is the forward reaction and the arrow that goes in the left direction is the backward reaction.
