In an individual, locomotion and movement are the main features of organisms, whether it is unicellular or multicellular. This is performed by a particular type of tissue called muscular tissues.

Difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles

Voluntary muscles	Involuntary muscles
The cells are long, cylindrical, and unbranched.	The cells are small and spindle-shaped.
They have striations and also called skeletal muscles.	They are unstriated and also called as smooth muscles.
These cells are multinucleated.	These cells are uninucleate.
The nucleus is located at the periphery.	The nucleus is located at the center.
They are under our control and work on our will.	They are not under our control and work on their own will.

Note: Human body consists of three types of muscle tissues – smooth muscles, skeletal muscles, and cardiac muscles. Out of which smooth muscles and cardiac muscles are involuntary muscles while skeletal muscles are voluntary muscles
