Fertilization takes place in the Fallopian tube. The fallopian tube is also known as oviduct and it contains four different parts –Isthmus, Ampullary, Infundibulum and fimbriae.
The ovary is the primary sex organ and is responsible for the production of ovum and the synthesis of female sex hormone estrogen. The uterus is the site where implantation of foetus takes place. The cervix is responsible for the aspiration of sperm. It directs the sperm into the vagina into the uterus during intercourse.
Fertilization takes place in the Isthmus- Ampullary region in the fallopian tube when both male and female gametes unite. Chances of fertilization are maximum 10 to 17 days after the menstrual phase.
