Napoleonic Code is the Civil Code of the French which was established under the French Consulate in 1804 and still in force although frequently amended. It was authored by Napoleon Bonaparte and published on 21st March 1804. The Napoleonic Code was not formed as the first legal code for enacting in a European country with the Civil Law Legal System. It was preceded by many codes. Such as Codex Maximilianeus Bavaricus Civilis (1756), Allgemeines Landrecht (1749) and West Galician Code (1797)
However, it was the first legal code to be adopted with a Pan-European scope, and it strongly influenced the law of many countries. It formed during and after the Napoleonic Wars. The Napoleonic code influenced many developing countries outside of Europe and others, Such as – Latin America and the Middle East, attempting to modernize.

- The feudal system was abolished.

Historian Robert Holtman believed that this was one of the documents that have influenced the whole world.
