1931 - Gandhi - Irwin Pact - Two moderate statesmen, Sapru and Jayakar, launched attempts to bring about an approach between Gandhi and the government early in 1931. On March 5, 1931, finally, a pact was signed between the two after having six meetings with Viceroy Lord Irwin, in which the Congress called off the movement and agreed to take part in the Second Round Table Conference.
1931- Second Round Table Conference- During the viceroyalty of Lord Willingdon, the conference was held in London from Sep.-Dec. 1931 and on behalf of the Indian National Congress, Gandhiji attended it.
1932- Poona Pact- On September 24th, 1932, an agreement was signed in the Yerwada Central Jail of Poona between M K Gandhi and B R Ambedkar on behalf of the depressed sections for the reservation of the electoral seats in the Legislature of the British Government, known as Poona Pact.
