They consists of eukaryotic organism that are photosynthetic in nature and belongs from the category of unicellular microalgae like chlorella to the diatomaceous multicellular forms that include the giant kelp which grow up to 50 meters and is a brown alga. They are aquatic in nature with less distinct body type. They are said to have originated from the cyanobacteria, the blue-green algae. Reproduction in them occurs tp be of both types, sexuala nd asexual reproduction.
-Ulothrix belongs to the green algae having chloroplast in the corner of cytoplasm or the cell wall and is girdle-shaped or the band-shaped. Oedogonium also belongs to the family of green algae containing a parietal, net-like chloroplast with several pyrenoids. This is a reticulated type of chloroplast. Chlamydomonas comes from the genus of green algae having a cup-shaped chloroplast. Zygonema is a filamentous thalloid algae that is present in the freshwater bodies. Each cell of Zygonema consists of a star-shaped or stellate chloroplast structure in between of which a large central pyrenoid is present.
