Hint: Road transport means transportation of goods and faculty from one place to the other on roads. It is one of the most ancient as well as the most significant forms of land transport. There are many purposes of road transport in comparison to other means of transport.

- The cost of construction, operating cost and retaining roads is cheaper than that of the railways.
- It has great connectivity as compared to rail, air or waterways. Many inaccessible rural places which do not have easy access to airports, railway stations or ports are connected by roads. For example, the army depends on roads to reach the interior areas in Arunachal Pradesh.
- An elderly person who needs medical help can use a car or van, right from home and reach the hospital without any boarding and deboarding anywhere along the route. Therefore, it is very convenient.
