We will take one example now. Let’s take the list of 6 natural numbers. The six natural numbers are as follows; 5, 3, 5, 7, 4, 5. Here we will find the frequency of the number 5 in the given data. We can easily see that 5 occurs three times in the given data. Therefore, the frequency of number 5 is 3. Here number 5 is the observation.

The frequency distribution is an overview or a representation of all distinct values corresponding to some variable and the number of times they occur. It represents the frequency within the given class interval or the number of observations occurs within the given class interval.

The cumulative frequency distribution is a type of frequency distribution which represents the sum of a frequency of a class and all classes below it. The cumulative frequency distribution is very helpful in determining the frequency up to a certain threshold.
