Hint: In order to solve this question, we should know about ferromagnetic materials. Those types of materials which magnetize in the direction of the external magnetic field when placed, and produce strong magnetism at molecular level are known as ferromagnetic materials. Here we will discuss curie temperature and its relation with ferromagnetic materials.
Complete step by step solution:
In physics, curie temperature is defined as the temperature above which the magnetic material loses its magnetism and becomes paramagnetic in nature. Paramagnetic materials are those which are very weakly magnetized in the direction of the external magnetic field in which they are placed.
So, Ferromagnetic materials are very strongly magnetized when placed in external field but only up to certain temperature and at a critical temperature above which ferromagnetic materials loses its magnetism and start to become paramagnetic in nature, that temperature is known as curie temperature of ferromagnetic material.
Some of most common examples of ferromagnetic materials along with their curie temperature are given below as:
Nickel has a curie temperature of ${360^o}C$
Iron has a curie temperature of ${770^o}C$
Cobalt has a curie temperature of ${1121^o}C$
Note: It should be remembered that, Curie temperature is the critical temperature above which these ferromagnetic materials don’t loss their magnetism instantly but slowly they start to lose magnetism as further increase in temperature and at certain point they became paramagnetic in nature completely. It was famous scientist Marie Curie who discovered this phenomenon and she is the only person who won nobel prize in both Physics and Chemistry as well.
