Hint: A hexagon is a structure with six edges. Figure out the centre of the hexagon .
Then construct the hexagon around that centre.

Complete step-by-step answer:
For construction you need a compass, a protractor, a scale and a pencil.
Accuracy is the key in questions related to construction.
The pencil should be sharpened.
The instruments should be accurate and precise.
Step one is to draw a baseline say AB of length 2.5cm.
Now take the compass and measure the length of 2.5cm with the help of a scale.
With the compass at A, draw an arc of length 2.5 cm.
Similarly with the compass at B , draw an arc of length 2.5 cm intersecting the previous arc and name the point O. This was step two.
Now O is the centre of the hexagon.
Keeping the compass at O, next draw a full circle of radius 2.5cm. This was step three.
Now again keep the compass at A and draw an arc of length 2.5cm cutting the circle. The point at which it cuts the circle is the next vertex of the hexagon. Name the vertex C.
Now move the compass to vertex C and again draw an arc of length 2.5 cm cutting the circle. Name this vertex D.
Similarly draw other vertices until the hexagon is complete.

Note: Note that every question of construction has a different requirement of instructions. In geometry, a hexagon is a six-sided polygon or 6-gon. The total of the internal angles of any simple hexagon is 720 degree.
