Hint: Growth is quantitative can be measured in relation to time. We can measure growth in terms of increase in length, height, volume, area, number. For accurate measurements we use specially designed devices such as Auxanometer.

Complete answer:
Auxanometer is an apparatus that we use for measuring growth in plants. Auxin stands for grow and meter stands for the measure. It is also called an arc indicator. These are used in fields, laboratories and classrooms.

Option A- Growth in length: Auxanometer is an instrument which is used to measure the growth rate of a plant in terms of length with the help of an arc indicator. Sensitive auxanometer also records growth of even a few micrometers.

Option B- Growth in Breadth: Auxanometer records the plant growth in terms of length not breadth. So growth in terms of breadth is not measured by this method.

Option C- Pest population: To check pest population growth or reduction there are various other methods. There is no role of auxanometer in this.

Option D- Both A and B: Only option A is measured with auxanometer not option B.

So our answer is Option A- Growth in length.

Note:
Auxanometer is invented by Koningsberger. It is also known as arc indicator as in arc auxanometer there is wire fixed with the apex of the plant on one end and on other end tied to dead weight that passes over pulley and this pulley has a pointer attached to it when the length of plant increases the pulley then rotates. When pulley moves the attached pointer also moves on a circular measuring scale which gives the magnitude of the growth of the plant directly.
