Hint :Tropical thorn forests are those forests which possess dense, scrub-like vegetation characteristic which are found in dry subtropical and warm areas.
Complete answer :
Tropical thorn forests are basically found in those areas which receive less than 70 cm of rainfall. The amount of humidity in such areas is less than 50 percent and the temperature ranges between 25 to 30 degree Celsius. Regarding the parts of the trees, the leaves are mainly thick and small in size in such a way to minimize evaporation. Trees are scattered with long roots that penetrate deep into the soil to get moisture. The roots of the trees are widely spread in order to further search for nutrients from the soil because originally they lack nutrients from the soil. Some of the important species of tropical thorn forests are cacti, babool, ber, wild date palm, khair, neem, khejri, palas etc. Some of the frequent animals found in these forests are rats, mice, rabbits, fox, wolf, tiger, lion, wild ass, horses and camels. These types of forests are found in north western and semi –arid areas of the country such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
Note :These forests have significant economic importance as well as the hardwood trees such as Babool, Kikar, Khair and Haldu are used for making furniture, carts and charcoal which also creates employment for a large number of people from background areas or those who belong to the forest area.
