Hint: Sulfur is a bright yellow crystalline substance and has an extremely bad odour. Sulfur is mainly found in hot regions like hot springs and volcanoes. Sulfur is a non-reactive element at normal temperatures. It is also used in the making of plant chlorophyll and nodules of legumes.
Step by step solution:
If plants suffer from sulfur deficiency-
• If the young leaf is necrotic that is affected by a disease or injury, it is a symptom of sulfur deficiency.
• Prematuration, falling off leaves too early, delayed development and delayed maturation are also symptoms of sulfur deficiency.
Note: Pure sulfur does not smell but its compounds may stink. Hydrogen sulphide is a poisonous gas which is the best-known compound of sulfur. It smells like rotten eggs. It is used in oil refining, batteries, fertilizers, etc. Sulfur is the third most abundant element in the human body. Sulfur is essential for the synthesis of cysteine and methionine. It is also good for the skin as it absorbs excess oil and prevents acne and skin breakouts.
