Desert biome: it is one of the driest biomes with extreme temperature. Rainfall in this biome is very scarce, it only rains 50cm of rainfall every year. The plants and animals living in this biome are adapted to survive on very less or no water. The flora comprises cacti that are adapted to thrive in hot dry climates. They are succulents that store water and transpire very little. Most of the animals are reptiles that live in deserts due to their adaptability to the hot climate. Desert biomes include hot, dry, and cold desserts.
Forests: it is one of the most common biomes found on earth. It covers almost 13rd of the earth’s surface. The Forest biome is a habitat for the different species of plants and animals spread across the globe. It is dominated by different species of trees which are habitats for different species of birds and animals. Forests are an essential part of the survival of animals. They are a major source of reducing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and providing oxygen for the animals to respire. Forest biomes include tropical, deciduous, temperate forests.
Freshwater biome: this biome does not contain saline water in its water bodies. It covers about that of the earth’s surface. The aquatic species living in freshwater do not survive in seas. The freshwater biome provides water for drinking to animals and humans. The freshwater biome includes ponds, lakes, and rivers.
Grassland biome: this biome consists of an open area filled with grasses with low rainfall. Grassland biomes are susceptible to wildfires and animals are mostly grazing animals. Grassland biomes include temperate and savanna grassland.
