There are some examples of species which undergo the process meiocyte:
- The meiocyte of yeast undergoes the process of meiosis and in this number of checkpoints are observed which is responsible to complete the cell cycle. The cell cycle of yeast will not complete if the division of meiocyte will lead to a mutant cell which will further undergo apoptosis and because of this cycle will not complete.
- The mutation will affect the meiocyte or meiosis process in plants. In the plant cells, some cells are a meiotic mutant which completes the cell cycle and produces abnormal microspores.

Note: The chromosome of different organisms or species consist of a different number of meiocyte cells. They are haploid because they produce from the diploid cells after the meiosis process. The meiocyte will only present in the sexually reproducing organisms and not present in the asexually reproducing organisms.
