Hint:Analysis of age-pyramids for the human population can help plan long-term strategies as this can help in determining the distribution of different age groups in a population thereby displaying future trends in the population.

Complete answer:The reproductive status of any population can be determined by observing the age pyramid of that population. Distribution of age groups plays a crucial role in the expansion of the population. Each population represents three different age groups namely Pre-reproductive, Reproductive, and Post-reproductive.

A population is said to be growing if the number of reproductively-active young members is greater than the number of post-reproductive members. However, a population is said to be declining if the number of post-reproductive members is more than that of other age groups.

There are 3 main types of age-pyramids representing the human population. These mainly include expansive pyramids, constrictive pyramids, and stationary pyramids. In expansive pyramids, the number or percentage of younger age groups (reproductive) is greater as compared to older age groups. This kind of pyramid is seen in a population with a high fertility percentage. In constrictive pyramids, the number of post-reproductive individuals is more as compared to the other age groups. Whereas, in stationary age pyramids, the number of individuals in all age groups is almost the same.

Note:- Therefore, analysis of the age-pyramids of a particular population can help in an efficient distribution of resources and a better planning strategy can be also adopted in such a way that the population can derive maximum benefit thereby allowing the population to flourish efficiently.
