Pins and Needles

Pins and Needles Song Lyrics

I saw her today
I saw her face
It was a face I loved
And I knew
I had to run away
And get down on my knees and pray
That they'd go away

But still they begin
Needles and pins
Because of all my pride
The tears I gotta hide

Hey, I thought I was smart
I won her heart
Didn't think I'd do
But now I see
She's worse to him than me
Let her go ahead
Take his love instead
And one day she will see

Just how to say please
And get down on her knees
Yeah, that's how it begins
She'll feel those needles and pins
Hurtin' her, hurtin' her

Why can't I stop
And tell myself I'm wrong
I'm wrong, so wrong
Why can't I stand up
And tell myself I'm strong

Because I saw her today
I saw her face
It was a face I loved
And I knew
I had to run away
And get down on my knees and pray
That they'd go away

Summary of the Poem

In this Poem, the poet is trying to tell that he saw the face of a girl today and loved the face of it. But he knew that he had to run away from it and get down to his knees and pray that they go away from him because the needles and pins will give pain and the tears have to be hidden as it was a matter of pride. The poet thought he was smart and won her heart, but that wasn't true as she was worse for him than anyone else. But still, he begins to give her love because he has faith that one day she will see the love and get down on her knees and she will feel the pain of the needles and pins that will hurt her. He was saying to himself that why can't he tell himself that he was wrong, why can't he motivate himself saying that he is strong.
