The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the seventh edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2022 today, i.e July 15, 2022, at 11 am. According to the list, IIT-Madras managed to retain its top position in the overall educational institutes and engineering categories for the 7th consecutive year.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad also retained its top spot in the NIRF ranking list (management category) for the past three years, except in 2019 when IIM Bangalore grabbed the top position.

In the NIRF Ranking list, the institutes are ranked based on their areas of operation including overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, architecture, ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), pharmacy, law, medical, dental and research.
The institutions are judged based on five broad parameters: Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR).
