There are a total of 16053 seats in 23 IITs for JEE Advanced candidates this year as announced by the Director of IIT Delhi, V.Ramgopal Rao. Apart from that, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 29 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes are also included for the JoSAA counselling in the seat allocation process.
However, this year there will be some significant changes in the counselling and the admission process as per the official statement issued by JoSAA. Instead of seven rounds of counselling/ seat allotment procedures, there will be only six rounds of counselling this year. This step has been taken in order to ensure that the admission process is over quickly and the new academic session can start soon. The entire process has been delayed a lot this year due to the coronavirus pandemic nationwide.
Candidates can check the list of courses offered by IITs, NITs this year during the time of choice filling. Eligible candidates who have secured the required JEE Main cut-off and JEE Advanced cut-off can participate in the seat allocation process/ counselling following the choice filling process. The choice filling is nothing but the filling in the form with the preferred courses and institutes of the candidates.
All the necessary information and regarding the choice filling and seat allocation procedure are mentioned in the JoSAA official portal. The entire schedule has been declared by JoSAA soon on their website. Candidates can also download the Seat Allotment Business Rules Brochure through the official website.
According to JoSAA, any kind of physical reporting would be avoided due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All the eligible candidates must confirm their admission by submitting the required documents online to participate in the seat allotment process.
