In a recent update, the National Testing Agency has confirmed that the students need to score at least 75% marks in Class 12 to take admissions to IIITs, NITs and GFTIs. However, the eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Main 2023 kept unchanged.
The students from SC and ST categories must score at least 65% in Class 12 to qualify for JEE Main 2023. This criterion was not followed in the last few years due to the pandemic, but as things are getting back to normal, the administrating body has restored minimum passing marks criteria. Admissions will be done through JoSAA and CSAB counselling.
The official notice read, “The admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs for B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch/B. Planning and CFTIs will be done through Central Seat Allocation Board. However, along with All India Rank, candidates must score at least 75% marks in Class 12 board exams. The minimum marks in Class 12 for SC/ST candidates would be 65%. In addition, the candidate must pass in each subject of Class 12/qualifying examination as well.”
The candidates who have cleared the Class 12 board exams in 2021 and 2022 or appearing for it in 2023 can sit for JEE Main 2023. While there is no upper age limit to participate in JEE Main 2023, institutions may have age requirements that candidates must meet.
