1. What is the Assessment Pattern for the Class 9 German Exam?
The assessment Scheme for Class 9 for the German language is as follows:
Max Marks: 80
Composition - Students will be required to write one short composition in German which may include short explanations, directions, descriptions, or narratives. There will be a varied choice of subjects which will be varied and may be suggested by language or other stimuli such as pictures or objects.
Letter - Students will be required to write a letter from a choice of either a formal or an informal letter. Assessment will also be done for the layout of the letter with address, introduction, conclusion, etc.
Comprehension - An unseen passage of about 150 words will be given in German and questions based on the given passage will have to be answered in German. This section aims to test the candidates’ understanding of the content of the given passage.
Grammar - This part will include tests in vocabulary, syntax and idioms, synthesis in sentence construction, and formation of sentences in German.
The Internal assessment of the students will be of 20 Marks. It will test the students on:
Listening skills - Students have to answer questions on a passage of about 300 words that is read aloud by the examiner twice at normal reading speed (about 110 words a minute).
Speaking skills - Students are required to make an oral presentation for about two minutes.
Creative writing skills - Students are required to write short compositions based on the suggested assignments.
