ICSE Class 10 French Syllabus:

The ICSE conducts Class 10 examination, one of the most important exams in a student’s life. It is the initial step to higher education. ICSE Class 10 Exam Pattern:

Assessment  Pattern of ICSE for French:

a) Listening Skills:

For the listening skills assessment, a passage of around 300 words is read by the examiner two times at normal reading speed. Candidates are required to make brief notes during the readings and then answer an objective type test based on the passage narrated.

b) Speaking Skills:

For the speaking skills assessment, each candidate is required to make an oral presentation of two minutes, which is followed by a discussion on the subject with the examiners, for about three minutes. 

c) Creative Writing Skills:

For creative writing skills, each candidate is required to write short compositions based on the suggested assignments.

This assessment will be conducted jointly by the subject teacher and the external examiner who will each assess the candidate based on their performance. The External Examiner may be nominated by the Head of the School who could be from the faculty but not teaching the language in the class.  

Marks Distribution:

The Internal Examiner is entitled to award a maximum of 10 marks and the external examiner also has 10 marks to offer. The total marks are 20  of which listening skills has 5 marks, Speaking Skills have 5 marks and Creative Writing has 10 marks are to be sent to the Council by the Head of the School.
