Top Colleges via JEE Advanced Other than IITs

The Indian Institutes of Technology are the main target of every aspiring JEE Main and JEE Advanced candidate. However, the severe competition makes it no less than a battlefield. However, those who do not make it to the Indian Institutes should not lose hope. Given below is a list of some of the best JEE Advanced 2022 colleges that can be your alternative to IITs.

  1. IISC Bangalore

The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore commenced on 27 May 1909, with just two academic departments that included General and Applied Chemistry and Electrical Technology. At present, the institute has made provision for several departments and undergraduate programmes in the field of brain research, nanoscience and engineering, hypersonics, etc.

IISC Bangalore has very recently initiated a B.Tech in Computing and Mathematics. Students can enrol in the B.Sc courses at IISC through JEE Advanced and the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) examinations.

  1. IISER

The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) were established by the Government of India through the Ministry of Human Resource Development. There are seven IISERs across the country, which include IISER Kolkata, IISER Pune, IISER Mohali, IISER Bhopal, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IISER Tirupati, and IISER Berhampur. Like IISC Bangalore, IISERs also take in JEE Advanced and KVPY qualified candidates into the institutions.

  1. IIPE Visakhapatnam

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) is located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It is another premium institute that JEE candidates can apply to once the JEE Advanced result 2022 is out. Interested candidates can avail the institute’s courses on petroleum engineering and chemical engineering at the undergraduate level.

  1. RGIPT Amethi

The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Amethi (RGIPT), located in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, is another prime institute for education in petroleum and related engineering courses. All JEE Advanced qualified candidates can apply for admission to the institute’s 8 B.Tech programmes and 2 Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) programmes. Some of the courses that students can pursue here are Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering at both graduate and MBA and MSc in Geoscience.

  1. IIST Thiruvananthapuram

Located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is one of the best places to study space science. On the basis of their JEE Advanced 2022 scores, students can also seek admission into a  4-year B.Tech course in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (Avionics) or a 5-Year dual degree course (B.Tech + M.Sc/M.Tech) in the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology.

  1. BITs Pilani

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Rajasthan is definitely a worthy mention in this list. It is definitely an alternative for students seeking admission to institutions other than IITs. It is one of the finest private engineering institutions in the country providing academic excellence and lucrative placements.

However, note that scores achieved in JEE Main and Advanced are not considered much here. BITs Pilani conducts its own entrance test, BITSAT, for students seeking admission into the college. Clearing BITSAT and scoring the required marks is your only gateway into the inbeststitute.

  1. IIT ISM Dhanbad

The Indian School of Mines Dhanbad has now come to be known as the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Another among the reputed JEE advanced colleges, IIT ISM has 18 academic departments incorporating programmes in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Management.
