The Little Princess and Her Baby Brother

A long time ago, there was a king and a queen. They were very happy with their little princess. She was a jolly little girl playing all day with her unicorn. She had all the happiness in her life.

One day, she was surprised. Her father and mother brought him a baby boy. The king said, “He is your little brother. Take good care and play with him.”

The little princess was not happy at all. She saw that her mother and father were not paying the attention they did before the arrival of her baby brother.

She was not happy at all. Even her unicorn pulled the cart carrying her brother. She was unable to play with her unicorn too!

The Old Bearded Man

One day, she was sad and angry and sitting in the royal garden all alone. She did not have her unicorn to play with too. Suddenly, a small bearded man appeared near the gate out of nowhere.

He called her, “Hey, little princess. Why are you sitting here alone?” The little princess replied, “I am sad because I don’t have my unicorn to play with.”

The man asked, “What happened to your unicorn?” She said, “It is busy pulling my baby brother’s cart. Everyone in the house thinks it’s funny. Now, I am alone with no one to play with.”

The man asked, “You can play with your brother.”

She said, “No. He does not smell good, and I cannot ride on him either.”

The Bearded Man’s Plan

The man said, “What if I make your brother disappear?”

She was surprised by this idea. She said, “Can you do that?”

The man said, “Yes, I can turn your brother into a slug. Let him loose in the garden, and nobody will recognise him. You will become happy again.”

She said, “Okay,” with hesitation. The man said, “I will return the next afternoon.”

The Next Day

She was happy and anxious at the same time. This was the day. She looked at her brother. He was playing with his foot and smiled back at her.

Suddenly, she realised his brother was not that bad. He smiled at her and wanted to play with her. She shouted to her father and mother, “Please close the door!”

The king asked, “Why? It is a lovely day.” He didn’t close the door. She became frightened. She has made a great mistake.

The Happy Ending

In the afternoon, the bearded man appeared. Her mother and father were not there. The man entered the room.

She pleaded, “Please don’t turn my brother into a slug.”

The man asked, “Why? You asked me to do it. I have already prepared a spell, and it needs to be cast.”

She cried and said, “Turn me into a slug.”

The old man understood she had been transformed. He cast a spell on himself and turned into a giant bearded slug. He said, “Play and take care of your brother with your life,” and left singing.
