Complete answer: Yesterday was one of the most stressful days of my life. I had to attend my national championship finale for chess, which was scheduled at 3 p.m. in Mumbai today. I lived in Bhopal, and I had booked the last train that would’ve allowed me to reach Mumbai on time. The train was scheduled to leave the Bhopal station at 7 a.m. yesterday.
To my horror, when I opened my eyes at 6.30 a.m., the colour drained out of my face. Thankfully, I had packed my bags, so that was not a hassle. I washed my face, threw on some clothes and was out of the house and in a taxi by 6.40 a.m. I could only reach the station if my taxi could complete a one - hour journey in twenty minutes.
I couldn’t believe it. I was going to miss my finale. I was going to lose the national championship without even playing. I cursed my friends, who had insisted on ‘celebrating’ last night in order to wish me luck, which led me to sleep late.
To no one’s surprise, when I reached the station a good thirty minutes late, the train to Mumbai had already left. I became manic, I did not know what to do. I called my friends and told them what happened, and to their credit, they apologized profusely and after digging a bit, told me to board a bus which would leave in two hours and which would make me reach just in time for the finale.
As soon as I heard that there was still a way, the colour returned to my cheeks. I did not want to be late again, so I bought my ticket and waited at the station for an hour and a half before the bus was due.
Thankfully, I reached the centre in Mumbai just on time. The ride to Mumbai was so stressful I imagined I would have grey hair by the time I reached.
This misadventure allowed me to realize that being late to something is a very dangerous thing for oneself. Ever since that experience, it is safe to say that I have never been late.
I have truly realized the value of time.
Note: In this question, it will be helpful for the student to recall the concept of an essay and narration. An essay is an analytic or interpretive literary composition. Narration is the act of giving an account describing incidents or a course of events.
