Complete step-by-step answer:As we know that one mole of nitrogen reacts with one mole of oxygen to produce two moles of nitrogen monoxide. And for balancing any chemical equation we have to balance the number of atoms on the left hand side and the right hand side.

We can see in the above equation that nitrogen which is naturally present as a molecule given as ${N_2}$ is reacting with oxygen which is again a molecule composed of two oxygen atoms which is given as ${O_2}$.
