Hint:Photosynthesis is the process of conversion of carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and carbohydrates (sugars) using light energy sources by plants. Green plants and certain other organisms with chlorophyll convert light energy to chemical energy.

Complete answer: The Calvin cycle can be defined as a metabolic pathway, wherein the carbon enters the chloroplast stroma in the form of carbon dioxide and exits in the form of sugars. It determines the process of photosynthesis.
Melvin Calvin was the first person to evaluate and exhibit the photosynthetic process. This process was named after him and was called the Calvin cycle. Plants and algae synthesize carbohydrates (sugar) from carbon dioxide for their growth and development. Almost every living being on earth depends on the Calvin cycle for food and energy. Animals with a plant-based diet are called herbivores. They solely derive energy and food from plants. Therefore, herbivores indirectly depend on the Calvin cycle.
Xanthophyll: Xanthophylls are carotenoid pigments that contain oxygen. They are responsible for imparting the colors orange, yellow, and red hues of fruits, vegetables, flowers, animal shells, animal feathers, or animal flesh (shrimp, chicken, flamingo, etc.).
Chlorophyll: Chlorophyll is a pigment that participates in the process of photosynthesis by absorbing light. Chlorophyll is of two main types: chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b.
Chlorophyll has the ability to absorb light energy from different wavelengths of orange-red light and violet-blue. It appears to impart green colors in plants because it can reflect green-yellow light.
Chlorophyll a acts as an electron donor in the electron transport chain. Chlorophyll b functions to absorb high-frequency blue light which is utilized in photosynthesis.
Carotenes: These do not contain oxygen atoms and are also utilized in photosynthesis. They absorb scattered orange or red light, ultraviolet light, blue light, and yellow light in low concentrations.
Phycoxanthin: Phycoxanthins are present in brown seaweeds and some types of algae as a yellow pigment.
Therefore, the correct answer is option B. Chlorophyll a

Note:Chlorophylls are of four types: Chlorophyll a, Chlorophyll b, Chlorophyll c, and Chlorophyll d.
Chlorophyll a is present in all higher plants, cyanobacteria, and algae; Chlorophyll b is present in green algae and higher plants; Chlorophyll c is located in dinoflagellates, brown algae, and diatoms; Chlorophyll d is found only in red algae.
