Hint: Cell organelles are enclosed in a cell membrane which defines the structure of the cell.
Complete answer:
There are two types of cells and they are prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells in both of them a semi-fluid matrix which is known as cytoplasm occupies the volume of the cell. In both plant and animal cells cytoplasm is considered as the main arena of all the cellular activity. Various chemical activities occur in it to keep the cell in the living state. Almost 80% of the cytoplasm is water. It also contains dissolved carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The space between the cell membrane and the nucleus is filled by the cytoplasm.
In eukaryotic cells, the cytoplasm contains various cell organelles that help in the normal functioning of the cells. These cell organelles are Endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, lysosomes, mitochondria, nucleus in animal cells and in plant cell vacuole and chloroplasts are also present.
Notes:
> Cell organelles along with the cytoplasm form the protoplasm, which makes a cell living; lack of protoplasm in a cell is considered to be a dead cell, such as sclerenchyma.
> Cytoplasmic cells were first discovered by Robert Hook in 1665.
> Cytoplasmic or protoplasmic movement helps in formation of pseudopodia or false feet to help in movement of amoeba, leukocytes and macrophages.
