Hint:
In this process, newly replicated chromosomes are equally partitioned into two daughter cells. This word is derived from the Greek word, meaning thread. And another process is a unique form for dividing cells as chromosome numbers are decreased to half.
Complete step by step answer:
Sperms are produced by spermatogenesis within the seminiferous tubules. Immature germ cells called spermatogonia present in the seminiferous tubule divide by mitosis. Some of these cells enter meiosis l to become primary spermatocytes; they then complete meiosis l to become secondary spermatocytes. The secondary spermatocytes then complete meiosis ll to become spermatids, which differentiate into spermatozoa(sperms) and are liberated to the lumen of the tubule. Within the seminiferous tubules, interspersed with spermatogonia, The cells are extended from the periphery to the lumen of the tubule. And these cells are very large. These cells are the Sertoli's cells, which support and nourish other cells. Sertoli cells help in phagocytosing residual bodies which are discarded in the process of differentiation into spermatozoa out of most of the spermatid cytoplasm. Spermatogenesis also depends on the testosterone secreted by Leydig cells, located between the seminiferous tubules. The process of spermatogenesis is completed by about 300 million sperm daily.
Option ‘C’ is correct
Note:
The second division of meiosis is completed by secondary spermatocytes formed by the first meiotic division of the primary spermatocyte. Spermatids are the haploid cells formed. The spermatids differentiate into sperm cells.
