Hint: Life is an inherent capacity that an organism possesses to maintain and reproduce itself. The origin of life is a well known fact and is a unique event that has occurred in the history of the universe . Origin of the universe was the most important phenomenon before the origin of life.
Complete answer:
The theory of pangenesis came into existence in 1868. This theory suggests that every organ inside the body of organisms can produce and give rise to minute hereditary particles. He called these particles as pangenes or Gemmules.
Now let us gather information about the work by scientists:-
Darwin :- at first he was not able to explain the cause of discontinuous variation and the mode of transmission of these variants to the next generation but then he gave the theory of pangenesis and suggests that organs produce gemmules and these gemmules are carried through the blood into gametes.
Lamarck :- he gave the theory of use and disuse of organs. He suggested that internal forces tend to increase size of the body and told that formation of new organs is the result of need or want continuously felt by organisms.
Hugo de vries :- he worked on evening Primrose plants and gave the idea of mutations. He said that mutations are the cause of evolution and mutations do not occur due to the variations that were told by Darwin.
Oparin :- he proposed and gave the idea that the first form of life has come into existence from pre-existing non living molecules on earth. The formation of life was preceded by the process of chemical evolution.
Our required option is A) Darwin.
Note: The theory of pangenesis was given by Darwin but this theory was then rejected by Weismann. Weismann gave the theory of Germplasm. He told that only change in the germplasm that contains germ cells or also called sex cells affects the characteristics of future generation.
