Hint: The Himalayas or the Himalayan range is broadly classified based on their location. With this as the basis, there are three divisions namely Shiwaliks, Himadri and the Himachal.

Complete Step by Step answer: The outermost part of the Himalayan range of Himalayas is known as the Outer Himalayas or Shiwaliks. Shiwaliks cover an area of/around 10-15 km. 900-1100 metres is the range of their altitude. Shiwaliks are discontinuous ranges. They consist of unconsolidated sediments, huge amounts of gravel and alluvium. The alluvium is brought down by rivers from the main Himalayan region. There are longitudinal valleys which are known as Duns. These lie between the Shiwaliks lesser and the Himalayas, e.g., Dehradun and Patli Dun.

Looking at the options given:
Option a- Shiwaliks are the southernmost part of the Himalayan range and hence it is the correct answer.
Option b- Himadri is the northernmost part/region of the Himalayan range. This is the wrong answer.
Option c- Himachal is the region that lies in the middle and therefore is an incorrect answer.
Option d- ‘None of the above’ cannot be the right answer.

Option ‘a’ is the correct answer.

Note: The Himalayan range/the Himalayas are a mountain range in Asia. This range not only separates the plains of the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau but has the world’s highest peak i.e. Mount Everest.
