- They are apical Meristems, Intercalary Meristem and lateral Meristems.
- In vascular plants, apical meristem gives rise to protoderm, procambium and ground meristem. The procambium is called the vascular tissue that is xylem and phloem which helps in the conduction and transport of food, water and other nutrients.
- Under lateral Meristems - fascicular vascular cambium and interfascicular cambium - It increases the girth of the plant.
- Cork cambium, this lateral meristem forms the cork, a tough protective material during the secondary growth.

Note: The Meristems that appear later than primary Meristems in the life of the plant and are responsible for producing the secondary tissues, particularly the woody areas, are called secondary Meristems.
