
How do proteins differ from carbohydrates and lipids?

Hint: In the human body, protein is a very important and essential nutrient.it is made from a chain of amino acids. In their structure amino and carboxyl groups are also present. Differentiation of protein from carbohydrates and lipids is based on groups and molecules present in them.

1)Proteins are the molecules which consist of amino acid chains that contain carboxyl and amine functional groups, the main elements are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.
2)Along with the basic molecules, there are 500 different amino acids present naturally.
On the other hand, lipids are the chemical makeup of fatty acids which consists of an alkyl group connected to the carboxyl group, therefore the main elements involved are carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
3)Carbohydrates are the starches and sugars , where n is different from m and the main elements are carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen thus, in carbohydrates the ratio of hydrogen and oxygen always remains 2:1.
4)As discussed above the main difference between protein, carbohydrates and lipids are the presence of elements but nitrogen is the one which is also in the proteins and the elements in each amino acid are present with specific conformation around the carbon center.
Note: Proteins are formed by the sequence of amino acids which are usually the polymers of polypeptide and with other proteins, they are capable of making peptide bonds with the loss of one water molecule in the reaction. These are three-dimensional structures arranged in ten to thousands of amino acids.
