Hint: Bone matrix is the main part of the bone tissues that are formed most of the mass of the bone. It is composed of organic as well as organic substances. The organic substance composed in the matrix refers to collagen and ground substance whereas the inorganic component refers to bone salts, mainly the hydroxyapatite.

Complete answer:
The bone that is mature is composed of proteins and minerals. 60% of the weight of the bone is minerals, mainly calcium and phosphate while the rest is water and matrix which is formed before the minerals that are deposited and can be considered the scaffolding for the bone. Almost 90% of the bone matrix is composed of the protein called collagen. Collagen is a very strong protein that is used to form bone, cartilage, tendons as well as tendons.

Collagen is the most abundant protein that is present in the body of humans especially bones, skins, cartilage and tendons. It is a substance that helps in holding the body together by forming scaffolds to provide strength and structure. It is of two types:
1. Endogenous collagen- It is a type of natural collagen that is synthesized by the body. It deals with the important functions happening in the body. Breakdown and depletion activities taking place in the body are linked to a number of health problems.
2. Exogenous collagen- It is a type of synthetic collagen that comes from outside sources, such as supplements. It is used for medical and cosmetic purposes such as the repair of body tissues.

Collagen is secreted by various cells mainly by connective tissue cells mainly found in the extracellular matrix. This is mainly a network of macromolecules that determines the physical properties of body tissue. Some collagens also act as a protective covering for many delicate organs present in the body like the kidney. Women experience a dramatic reduction in collagen synthesis after menopause. After the age of 60 years, there is a considerable decline in the production of collagen from the normal.

Note: Collagen can be used for dressings to attract new skin cells to wound the site. They decline with age and on exposure to factors like smoking, UV light. There are special types of collagen fibrils, gram- for - gram that are much stronger than steel. There are special collagen lotions being used to increase collagen levels in the body that are mainly absorbed by the skin.
