Hint: Two hormones are mainly secreted by corpus luteum. These are steroid hormones and are also secreted by the ovary and placenta. One of them is known as the anti-abortion hormone. These hormones are used in birth control pills.

Complete answer:
One of the hormones secreted by the corpus luteum is progesterone. It is essential for the maintenance of the endometrial lining during the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. It is also known as the beauty hormone.

In the luteal phase, the endometrium further thickens due to the Estrogen hormone which is also secreted by corpus luteum.
A corpus luteum is a yellowish mass of follicular cells that functions as an endocrine structure. LH hormone also stimulates the corpus luteum to secrete estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen and progesterone inhibit the release of a follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). This prevents the development of a new follicle during the luteal phase. The luteal phase lasts for 14 days. During this phase, the levels of estrogen and progesterone will rise while FSH and LH levels drop. Low level of LH causes, degeneration of corpus luteum leading to a sudden decline in progesterone level that causes menstruation.
Maintenance of endometrium by progesterone is necessary for the implantation of fertilized ova and maintenance of pregnancy. During pregnancy, all events of the menstrual cycle stop and there is no menstruation due to a high level of progesterone.
In the absence of fertilization, the corpus luteum degenerates; the level of progesterone hormone will fall. This causes the disintegration of endometrium leading to menstruation marking a new cycle.

Note: -Sometimes women may wish to postpone the menstrual bleeding for a few days, she should take progesterone-like drugs. A high level of progesterone maintains the endometrium.
-Menopause is a senile change that occurs in the ovary around the age of 50 years. At this time, a woman no longer ovulates and thus moves out of the childbearing stage. The ovarian follicles have degenerated and estrogen and progesterone hormones are deficient. FSH and LH are being produced by the anterior lobe of the pituitary, but now the ovary is not responding to this hormone.
