In this universe atoms are present everywhere as a main constituent. If we break an atom then we find that a large number of ions are present inside atoms and they are named as electrons, protons and neutrons are. The protons are positively charged ions while the electrons are negatively charged and the neutrons are neutral ions.
In an atom,the major amount of mass is filled in a space known as nucleus of the atom.In an atom, only electrons move in a circle around the nucleus of an atom while the protons are not permitted to move. Protons are heavier and larger than electrons but the positive charge in a proton is as same as the negative charge in an electron. The attraction between protons and electrons is known as electrostatic attraction.
Electrostatic attraction is a force of attraction which is exerted by two unlike or dissimilar (opposite) charges on each other when they are kept at some finite distance apart. This is also known as contactless attraction between two opposite charges or we can say this Electrostatic force attracts two dissimilar charges without touching them.

Note:- The concept of electrostatic force becomes clearer if we consider a practical example. If we bring North Pole of a magnet near to North Pole of another piece of magnet then those two pieces of magnet will repel each other and if we bring North Pole of one magnet near the south pole of another piece of magnet then they will attract to each other.
