The presence of phosphoglycerate kinase. 2 molecules of ATP have been released in this step. 3-phosphoglycerate kinase is then converted into 2-phosphoglycerate in the presence of phosphoglycerate mutase.
2-phosphoglycerate is then converted into phosphoenolpyruvate in the presence of enolase. Two water molecules are released in this step. Phosphoenol pyruvate is then converted into pyruvate in the presence of pyruvate kinase where two molecules of ATP are released.
