On the morning of 1 September the capital of Poland, Warsaw, witnessed its first-ever bombing raid. Germany was successful in entering Poland, they came in from Prussia in the North and from Slovakia in the South. After seizing most of Poland’s air force, the German infantry was able to enter Polish rears because the panzer attacks had led to multiple openings in the Polish lines. Later Poland mentioned quick military help from France and Britain, yet it was not until early afternoon on 3 September that Britain announced a battle on Germany, trailed by France's revelation at 5.00 pm.
