Hint: In order to find the fraction of the circles having X’ s in them we should know what a fraction is. A fraction is basically a part of a whole number which can be written as one-fourth of a number, two- sixth of a number etc. A fraction is basically having two parts- a numerator and a denominator. Numerator is the upper part of a fraction and denominator is the lower part.
Complete step by step answer:
We are given eight circles in which we need to find the fraction for the circles which have four X’ s in them. Since, we can see that there are a total Eight circles in the diagram, whereas there are four circles which have X’ s in them among the total eight circles. Now, according to this the statement becomes “Four out of Eight “circles.
As, we know that a fraction is the parts of a whole fraction that is written in terms of numerator and denominator as for example- “one-fifth of a number which is numerically written as $\dfrac{1}{5}$ where one is the numerator part and five is the denominator part.Similarly, for the statement “Four out of Eight “circles, four would become the numerator and Eight will become the denominator and numerically it can be written as $\dfrac{4}{8}$.
Therefore, the fraction of circles having X in them is $\dfrac{4}{8}$.
Note:If the numerator and denominator part are divisible by each other it can be simplified too. As in the above question, the fraction was $\dfrac{4}{8}$, we can see that $8$ is divisible by $4$ in$2$ times. So, it can be simplified and can be written as $\dfrac{1}{2}$, which is known as the Simplest fraction.
