Cholera caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae which causes diarrhea and dehydration. This disease is transmitted through contaminated water and food. In some cases, the symptoms develop a few days after the infection. Generally, the acid present in the stomach kills the cholera bacteria, infection only infects those people which has low acid content in the stomach.
