Hint: We explain the concept and use of Boolean algebra. We take the binary numbers i.e., 0 and 1 for false and true respectively. Then we find the differences between Elementary algebra and Boolean algebra. We also discuss its advantages and disadvantages.
Complete answer:
Boolean algebra is a mathematical logic system where every outcome is considered as true or false, no other possible choice. Boolean Algebra is used to analyse and simplify the digital (logic) circuits. It uses only the binary numbers i.e., 0 and 1 for false and true respectively. It is also called as Binary algebra or logical Algebra.
Elementary algebra is expressed using basic mathematical functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, whereas Boolean algebra deals with conjunction, disjunction, and negation.
On its own, Boolean logic gives only definite, black-or-white results. It never produces a “maybe.” This disadvantage limits Boolean algebra to those situations where you can state all the variables in terms of explicit true or false values, and where these values are the only outcome.
Note:
The system is mostly used in circuits and computer language. The machine understands the basic inputs as 0 or 1. Today, Boolean algebra is of significance to the theory of probability, geometry of sets, and information theory.
