Hint: The Election commission of India is a constitutional authority and is not under the jurisdiction of the government. It operates independently.

Complete answer:
The Election commission of India formed on 25 January, 1950 is given the power and responsibility of administration of elections in our county. It is an autonomous body and operates under the authority of the constitution as mentioned in the Article 324.
The election commission administers election for the government bodies such as:-
The Lok Sabha
Rajya Sabha
State Legislative Assemblies
State legislative Councils
The offices of the President and
Vice President of the country.

The election commission has a chief election commissioner along with two election commissioners who are usually retired IAS officers. The Election Commissioners are assisted by Deputy Election Commissioners, who are also generally IAS officers. They are further assisted by Director General, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries and under Secretaries.

The Chief election commissioner can never be subjected to impeachment as mentioned in the constitution of India. Other election commissioners can be impeached by the President of India on the recommendation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

The process of removal of the Chief Election Commissioner of India is similar to the removal of a judge of the Supreme Court of India which requires a resolution being passed by the Parliament of India, a two-thirds majority in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on the grounds of proved misbehaviour or incapacity.
