Natural gas is that gas that contains a greater amount of methane and it is created underground when biomass decomposes. Natural gas is considered the cleanest of all fossil fuels. They can be refined into liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG).
Natural gas is an excellent source of energy and it is used in district heating and for producing electricity. It is also popular in industrial processes as it requires no storage. Natural gas can also be used as an affordable fuel for traffic purposes.
Biogas, on the other hand, is a renewable form of energy that is produced by the activity of anaerobic bacteria from biological raw materials such as organic waste, manure, and industrial surplus waste. Biogases are available in limited quantities and are mostly used in rural areas. Biogas can be used as a clean-burning fuel. Decomposition of organic matter helps in the formation of biogas, which has higher thermal efficiency as compared to kerosene, dung cakes, and charcoal. Biogas does not produce smoke and therefore, it is quite useful as a fuel.
