The trade from 1770 – 1839 in 1773 the governor-general of India decided to establish an east India company opium monopoly in bangal this is so-called Patna Opium.was considered as the finest quality opium in the world grown for sale in the Chinese market.

Indian farmers were encouraged by the company to grow opium and sell it raw to the company.In 1793 Qing government reiterated its ban on British east India company afraid to sell opium directly so that opium was sold to private traders and private traders marked that opium in Canton.The fund of east India company and trade team proceed by it and this trade in opium was simply skyrocketed after the turn of 19th century.The trade increased day by day as in 1820 it's about 5000 chest of opium and later in 1830 it became 18000 chest of opium, opium addiction became so high as in 1839 it reached to 40,000 chest of opium supplied.Later when opium became the biggest addiction of Chinese people there were measures were taken to control it one of them is eradicate opium smoking.
Note:Opium is an intoxicating substance which is highly used by the people to make them addicted for one thing as nowadays people use it in tea's coffee and other drinks etc ,and today also it is against the law of opium usage. But still, it is used by many people due to their addiction. The government is still taking measures to control it and save people from this addiction.
