They were mainly hired by royal societies. The Minstrels often recited songs which portrayed the stories of the Rajput rulers. These were sung in praise of the rulers. These stories also attracted ordinary people. The Minstrels would proclaim the achievements of their heroes in order to preserve their memories and inspire others to follow their footsteps.
The bravery of the Rajput kings was narrated by the Minstrels in the form of stories and songs. These stories and songs had strong emotional themes of love, anger, bravery, friendship, loyalty etc. The English literature was a period in which the Minstrel became the central theme especially the Romantic period.
