Hint: In this question we’ll have to convert the given quantity into a single measurement unit.
For converting kg to dg remember this series given below:
Kilogram (kg)
Hectogram (hg)
Decagram (dag)
Gram(g)
Decigram(dg)
Centigram (cg)
Milligram (mg)
Each of the unit given above is greater by a factor of 10 by the unit given just below it.
For converting meter into decimeter (dm) remember that $1m = 10dm$

Complete answer:
a) according to the conversion given above we can conclude that:
1kg=10hg
1hg=10 dag
1 dag = 10g
1g = 10dg
Hence on multiplying four equations we get that $1kg = 10000dg$
Given as given 5kg 50dg, we’ll convert 5kg into dg first and then add 50dg to it.
$1kg = 10000dg$
$5kg = 5 \times 10000 = 50000dg$
5kg 50dg will be $ = (50000 + 50)dg = 50050dg$
Hence $5kg{\text{ }}50dg = 50050dg$
b) To convert meter and decimetre remember this conversion $1m = 10dm$
$1m = 10dm$
$1dm = \dfrac{1}{{10}}m$
Hence, $6dm = 6 \times \dfrac{1}{{10}}m$
Now we’ll add up the two values in the same unit of meters: $70m + \dfrac{6}{{10}}m = 70 + 0.6 = 70.6m$
Therefore, 70m 6dm will be equal to 70.6 meters.

Note:
If we are given the inverse conversions of converting dg into kg we’ll use the formula as: $1dg = \dfrac{1}{{10000}}kg$. Similarly, for converting m into dm remember that $1m = 10dm$. For questions involving conversions always remember to convert both the quantities to a single unit. In the given question we convert kg into a single unit of dg and that of dm into m
The SI units for measurements of weights is kilograms (kg) and that for length is meters (m). Although in science, the units of g, mg are more frequently used to measure mass and cm, mm are used for length.
