Hint: A chemical reaction is the representation of a reaction. The reactants are written on the left side and the products are written on the right side. An arrow is used between the right-hand side and the left-hand side to show how the reaction proceeds.

Complete step by step answer:
The complete skeletal reaction of the given reaction is,
$CaO\left( s \right) + {H_2}O\left( l \right) \to Ca{\left( {OH} \right)_2}\left( {aq} \right)$
In this reaction, calcium oxide reacts with water to produce calcium hydroxide. As in this reaction calcium oxide reacts with water, So, we can say that calcium oxide has undergone hydrolysis producing a hydroxide, that is, calcium hydroxide.

We can conclude that out of the three given options, option (a) is correct, that is, hydrolysis..

Additional Information:
$CaO\left( s \right) + {H_2}O\left( l \right) \to Ca{\left( {OH} \right)_2}\left( {aq} \right)$
Calcium oxide reacts with water to produce calcium hydroxide. This reaction is also referred to as slaking of lime. The common names of slaked limes are cal, caustic lime, pickling lime etc. This is an exothermic reaction. The slaked lime has various uses. It is used for the manufacturing of the sugar, it is used in white washing, in the treatment of sewage, in the paper industry, in pickles, it is also used in the tobacco factories, in various kinds of beverages, used as digestive aid etc.

Note:
Students must note that a chemical equation has to be always balanced. The reactants should be written on the left-hand side and the products should be written on the right-hand side. The number of each element in the reactants and in the product must be the same.
