
How is the cloud model of the atom different from Bohr’s model?

Hint: Atomic Model is a simple representation of the simplest substance in the universe which is atoms. Atomic model tells us about the structure of the different parts of the atom and helps us understand it.

Neil Bohr came up with his idea of the Atomic Model in 1915. The earlier model to this was made by Rutherford who suggested the idea of nucleus which he thought was located centrally inside the atom. He proposed that the positively charged nucleus was surrounded by negatively charged electrons and thus keeping the atom overall stable.
Neil Bohr dotted in his postulates that,
The negatively charged particles called electrons revolve around the nucleus in a fixed circular path called orbits or shells.
The energy level of the atom is represented by integers starting from 1. These integers are called quantum numbers which are represented by $n = 1,2,3,4,....$ .While $n = 1$ is considered to be the ground state for any electron.
The electrons in an atom are ordered according to their energy levels, which means the electrons with the lowest energy value will get in the first orbit and the rest will continue accordingly.
While in the case of the Cloud Atomic Model, it is noted that electrons are surrounded around the nucleus in charged clouds rather than orbits. It is also proposed that the position of the electrons cannot be predicted exactly as they do not rotate around the nucleus in a fixed path.
This is the major point which differentiates the two atomic models is that in the Cloud Atomic Model it is said that the nucleus is surrounded by electron clouds and they move in random paths. While in Bohr’s Atomic Model, it is said that the nucleus is surrounded by electrons as particles which rotate around in a fixed path called orbits/shells.

None of the both atomic models are absolutely perfect. Both are theoretically and mathematically deduced models. But we can say that the Cloud Atomic Model is a modern and improved version of Bohr’s Atomic Model.
